Mara defending her record

It’s been two years since we lost Roe, and Massachusetts will not stop fighting back. I’ll never forget the day Roe v. Wade was overturned, and there is one particular moment from that day that will always stay with me. Walking out of a courtroom in Worcester Superior Court, I saw three young women sitting on a bench in the hall, 19 years old or so. I realized they would walk out of the courthouse with fewer rights than they had walking in, and my heart broke. Massachusetts judges have been deciding cases involving abortion rights for hundreds of years and they will continue to do so. Abortion rights are on the ballot and they are on the ballot in this race too. As your Governor’s Councillor, I will always make sure a nominee is pro-choice before I vote yes. Time to vent. Though I always set the record straight, it’s awful to have to listen to my opponent at forums while she lies and lies and lies about me, about her record, and about the other Governor’s Councillors. I forgive her for lying about me, but I don’t forgive her for lying to voters. She’s lying to voters because she knows she can’t win on the merits. Here are links to clips from the most recent debate so you can see what I mean. I spoke about terrible votes she has taken, and when I spoke about her failure to properly vet the judge who returned Harmony Montgomery to the custody of her father over the objections of DCF, she suddenly claimed she couldn’t hear. Click HERE. When asked why she gets no donations, she disingenuously claimed it’s because she doesn’t like to ask and implied that people who support me are doing something wrong. Click HERE. She even went so far during the last debate as to threaten to sue me and say I falsely claimed she committed an assault and battery with a curling iron! What? That case is well documented and she got nine months’ pretrial probation. I didn’t accuse her. The victim did. Quite a few jaws dropped when she said that, and audience members laughed and called out, “But she did that!” Click HERE. For the whole debate, click HERE.

Mara Dolan on Zoom with the People's Parity Project

Her lies are part of a larger pattern of very poor communication. She simply does not engage with constituents as she should, shunning the multiple platforms available and leaving far too many in the dark about the Governor’s Council. Recently, we were unable to have a proper forum, hosted by Boston’s Ward 4 and Ward 5 Dems, because she still does not know how to use Zoom. Click HERE to see me trying to make an opening statement while she repeatedly interrupts. I’m very proud and grateful that both Boston Ward 4 and Ward 5 Democratic Committees endorsed me after the forum.

Endorsement alert: State Senator Becca Rausch

No wonder this race is a landslide of the informed. But as long as there are voters who don’t know what’s at stake, some may either reflexively vote for the incumbent or not vote in this race. We must make sure that doesn’t happen. Please make a contribution, so we can reach as many voters as possible, and forward this email to other concerned citizens!

I’m very proud to be endorsed by my fifth State Senator Becca Rausch, who said, "Mara Dolan approaches public service with integrity, courage, and deep dedication to the people and our shared values." I am very honored, and thrilled that she will kick off our first canvas! Come join us in Wayland on July 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Einstein Bros. Bagels. If you'd like join, email me at Mara@MaraDolan.com. We'd love to have you!

I’m also very proud to announce the endorsement of Progressive Dems of Massachusetts, who said, “For the crucial role of Governor’s Councillor, we need a seasoned and compassionate person deeply familiar with the courts and justice system in our Commonwealth. Mara Dolan will make us proud.” With your support we will make sure every voter in the district knows about this race. Once they know, they are with us. Thank you for being with us too!

I had a wonderful time and was very honored to attend the Asian Music Festival in Lexington with Gary Yu, to see so many wonderful performers, to speak to the audience, and to meet new supporters and leaders from Chinese-American Associations all over the district. The next time the Asian Music Festival comes to town, go!
