This Race "Most Interesting Part of the Ballot" says Commonwealth, First Forum with Audience Questions Monday, Boston Pride and Joy, and 4th of July!
This race will be "the most interesting part of the ballot" in the district, said Commonwealth Beacon this week. Read how my experience, endorsements, and the grass roots are winning against the power of incumbency, by Gin Dumcius. (For a full list of my endorsements, click HERE.) We are much stronger than we were two years ago, yet we must continue to leave no stone unturned. Forward this email to your friends and networks, and make sure they know to vote in the Democratic primary on or before September 3, 2024. There is no Republican on the ballot. The primary is everything.
We are having the first forum with a live audience and audience questions! Come join us in Concord on Monday, June 17, 2024 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Concord Free Public Library, 129 Main Street, Concord, MA. Special thanks to the Concord, Acton, Carlisle, Maynard, and Waltham Democratic City and Town Committees for co-sponsoring. I really hope you’ll join us, and get your questions answered!
I will never forget marching with Mass Equality for the Boston Pride parade! Here’s a little video with highlights from that wonderful time. As your Governor’s Councillor, I will always stand up for the LGBTQ community, just as I have since my father came out in the 1970’s when I was just a kid, and everything was very different. We’ve come a long way since then, but we are also facing a frightening and violent backlash against the basic right to be who you are and love who you love. Absolutely everyone has that right, and we must make sure those rights are protected by our laws and upheld by our courts.
We are coming up on two years since justices on the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. I’m honored to be one of the speakers at the Bigger Than Dobbs Weekend of Action Concord Indivisible rally at First Parish on June 23, 2024. Massachusetts state judges have been deciding reproductive rights cases for centuries and they will continue to do so. My opponent’s record is clear, with endorsements and recommendations from anti-choice organizations for the 25 years she has been in office. Abortion is on the ballot in the race for Governor’s Councillor, and I am the only candidate you can count on to make sure all nominees are pro-choice before I vote yes.
Voting by mail for the primary will begin in early August, just eight weeks from now. For all the reasons I’m running, electing the first public defender to the Governor’s Council, for having a Governor’s Councillor you can count on, for the change we need, help us reach as many voters as we can, and make a contribution today.
The 4th of July is right around the corner. If you love a good 4th of July parade like I do, come to Chelmsford where I’ll be marching! It's always a fantastic parade with huge crowds, so it's a great opportunity to let more voters know about this critical race while celebrating the 4th of July! If you’d like to march with us, email me here. We’re sure to have a blast!
Don't forget to forward this to your friends and networks! To find out where you know folks who can vote in this race, click HERE for a map of the district and a list of its 31 cities and towns. Everyone knows someone in Governor's Council District 3!
Wishing everyone a happy Father’s Day!
Take Care,
Mara
