You may recall that two years ago, when Marilyn Devaney spoke last and knew I wouldn’t have an opportunity to respond, she falsely claimed she had been endorsed by Congressman Jim McGovern and others, and falsely accused me of “twisting” her record. This time, I asked the League of Women Voters if I could be permitted to rebut if my opponent were again the last to speak and again made false claims. Unfortunately, they said no. I fought hard to make sure voters would not be left with misinformation, but this is the way it will be. But I want you to know that if my opponent again makes false statements in her closing, even though I will not be permitted to respond in that moment, I will still respond. I will use every platform available, including traditional, new, and social media, to make sure voters have accurate information. I forgive my opponent for lying about me, but I will never forgive her for lying to voters. It’s wrong, and I will make sure voters get the truth.
